Gentle Pilates

The class utilizes the Somatic approach in teaching Pilates. The teaching will be focused on dynamic alignment and creating awareness on how to move your body which emphasizes internal physical perception (proprioception) and maximum efficiency. The word Somatic means “of or relating to the living body”. Somatics is a field within bodywork and movement studies, the term is used in movement therapy to signify approaches based on the soma, or “the body as perceived from within.” Embodiment is another word that we will use to describe and experiment with Pilates exercises during the session.
